On page 10 Customized Fixed ID of your manual there are instructions how to BIND your Transmitter and receiver
Once you have done that you can issue a new code of your own. the code is there in order to create a unik path
for each aircraft you have equipped with a DEVO receiver. The Manual gives good instructions on how to do just that

You can also use a Random ID mode, then you do not need any code, only to BIND transmitter/receiver
this mode can be used if you only use one receiver to a specific plane or other aircraft

It is only a part of it
there is some programing involved in the Bind random mode. It is all in the manual
